Some photos from Bratislava and Austria

I've been living in Bratislava for ca 2,5 weeks now and I am starting to like it a lot. Just the fact that I can walk around for hours outside in the fresh air is a nice change from Nairobi. I've started to network a bit to find a new job and it's going quite well, I've met with a few UN persons and let's see if there will be any vacancies coming up soon...keep your fingers crossed! I was here already for a whole week in November with my mother and will post those photos later - the ones below are all from January

The inner court yard where we live in the old town of the city

The Danube (Donau) is just one minute away and there is a big park on the opposite side of the river where I am planning to go jogging later on

You just have to cross one of the many bridges

Last Friday Joe's Canadian friend Ron came over from Vienna to spend a night in Brati before traveling to Vancouver the day after. He just finished a mission as election observer in Central Asia and brought some nice Ukrainian vodka :)

It turned out that one of Joe's new Canadian colleagues (Dallas below) knew Ron from before. This photo is from the living room in our apartment.

Joe is inspecting the new car - an old dream coming true - a Defender which I'm sure will travel all over Central and Eastern Europe in the following years. There is room for four people in it and it was to my big surprise very easy to maneuver!

The very first trip to Austria - without a GPS - to Semmering for skiing the first week end. A couple of wrong turns of course, me reading the map, but we made it under 2 hours.
